Annette Lake

Difficulty: Moderate
8 miles round trip
Northwest Forest Pass Required

A very nice waterfall right out of the gate on this hike. This hike starts out pretty easy, with gradual climbs. After about 1/2 mile or so, you cross over the Iron Horse Trail and things start to get a little more steep. You will climb pretty high for a couple of miles and then the trail evens out and opens up a bit. Once you have reached this point, the trail will eventually start descending into the lake.

Hiking this year has been sparse. We have had poor weather here in the Northwest this year, so most of the hikes Aaron and I have done have been familiar, close hikes. We did finally get some decent weather in October though, and bundled up and headed to a new destination.

A large fallen tree makes for a great bridge walkway.

Honestly, I think this hike is best in the fall when the leaves are turning. Though it is a pretty hike, Annette Lake isn't the most beautiful lake I have ever seen. There are a lot prettier lakes in the area, but the surrounding peaks (Silver Peak being one) are beautiful!

Directions: From Seattle take I-5 to Exit 47, the Denny Creek Exit. At the stop sign turn right. A short distance, at the T in the road, turn left. The parking lot is about 1/2 mile on the right hand side.
